Will The Real Commander-In-Chief Please Stand Up
If you were listening, what you heard today from Barack Obama were the words of Valerie Jarrett. It is now fairly certain that Obama did NOT give the order to take out Osama bin Laden. Rather, it was Leon Panetta, Obama's CIA Director, who overrode Valerie Jarrett's continued objections to the mission because she feared another Carter-style helicopter crash in the desert aka the "Iranian hostage rescue". And it now appears that Obama was AWOL on the night of September 11, 2012 when the Benghazi attacks were underway, and it was Valerie Jarrett who from the White House gave the order for any rescue attempts to "Stand Down!" Again, it was her fear of failure that drove her to inaction. She clearly has no faith in the military.
Suffice it to say that it was no doubt she who directed Obama to dump the entire Syrian situation on the Congress. It was obvious that there is no appetite in America for another war. The polls are against intervention. And Obama boxed himself into a corner by drawing a "red line" that Syria couldn't cross. Today's address was nothing but a face-saving ploy, no doubt a creation by V.J. herself to pass the buck.
If Obama went to war unilaterally (with France being his entire "coalition of the willing"), he would have felt the heat in Washington. If he went to war without Congressional approval, he would have been sitting out there on a limb. Therefore, the obvious response to a tough decision is to deflect and postpone. Put the onus on Congress. Let's wait for them to come back from recess and decide. I can hear him saying: "If Congress chooses to ignore my recommendation to respond militarily, then... IT'S THEIR FAULT. "I wanted to be tough... but those darn guys in Congress wouldn't let me! On the other hand, if they approve a strike... then I'm covered. And if things go bad, Congress can share the blame."
This is how Barack Obama makes decisions. He tests the waters, checks the polls, appeals to his base, and... most importantly, looks for somebody to blame if things go wrong. Barack Obama is a political animal -- nothing more. He is not a leader. He has no principles. He does not govern. He simply slides through life from situation to situation deferring, deflecting, and looking for somebody to blame. He is not a President. He is a worm. Nothing more. He takes his orders from the real Commander-in-Chief... Valerie Jarrett.
