Liberals Silent On Fascist Dictator

It's amazing at how silent the Liberals and the Mainstream Media are over the recent despotic actions of a Fascist Dictator. I am speaking of course of Hugo Chavez and his decision to close the only remaining TV station in Venezuala which offers any criticism of his policies. And not only that, but his action comes in direct opposition to the wishes of 70% of Venezualans. The results have been days of rioting in Caracas Venezuala which have gone largely unnoticed here in the United States.

How can this be? It is unfathomable! If George Bush had closed merely ONE TV station in the United States which criticized his policies (let alone the LAST & ONLY station), there would be outrage! There would be protests! There would be strikes! There would be non-stop news reports from ALL the remaining stations and print outlets! Conservatives would join with Liberals to raise "holy hell"!

So how is it that we hear almost nothing of such things as this particular ARTICLE at Channel 4 News (UK)...

RIOTING IN CARACAS OVER TV STATION CLOSURE
Police in the Venezuelan capital Caracas are braced for further trouble this evening after two nights of rioting sparked by the closure of a popular television station. The opposition is accusing the government of President Hugo Chavez of censorship over the decision to revoke RCTV's licence, as Guillermo Galdos reports from Caracas. Some 53 years of broadcasting came to an end in just a few seconds at the main offices of RCTV in Caracas. Journalists, producers, actors and technical staff gathered inside the station to give an emotional farewell to the viewers. Outside the channel, bullets were fired during clashes between supporters and opponents of the governments decision not to renew RCTVs license.

It was the end of a tense weekend in Caracas. One poll found that more than 70% of Venezuelans were against the governments move, which RCTV and human rights groups say limits freedom of expression in the country. But followers of Chavez believe his revolution needs defending on the streets and through the media...

This is a flagrant attack on the 'Freedom of Speech' and 'Freedom of the Press'. Even FoxNews noticed how silent such bastions of First Amendment Rights like the New York Times have been on this issue...

The answer is unfortunately all too obvious. The New York Times and other liberal media outlets refuse to play up the fascist, anti-democratic policies of dictators like Hugo Chavez, because Chavez is a "SOCIALIST" fascist. Hugo Chavez is a "SOCIALIST" dictator. Hugo Chavez is a "SOCIALIST" tyrant. Hugo Chavez is a "SOCIALIST" criminal. That gives him a pass with the Mainstream Media... that and the fact that he is an anti-Bush fanatic [just like them].

So, for the New York Times and the other silent media outlets, it must be OK to squash 'Freedom of the Press' and 'Freedom of Speech'... so long as it's a "SOCIALIST" that's doing it. It must be OK to squash 'Freedom of the Press' and 'Freedom of Speech'... so long as it's not happening in THIS country.

What hypocrites! What partisans! What frauds! What scum!

Vacation Pics 1

Well, you didn't expect me to go to Hawai'i and not bring a camera, did you? Here's the first installment of photos...

We flew from Newark-Liberty International via Chicago into Honolulu and boarded the Norweigan Cruise Lines ship, "The Pride of Aloha". [This fist pic is not mine BTW. It's an ad piece. MY photo didn't come out too good.]

This was our first ever cruise, and after traveling for something like 17-18 hours, and worrying about whether or not our luggage made it on board, and then the mandatory life boat drill (which frankly was not well organized), we finally settled down to enjoy a 'bon voyage' BBQ accompanied by Hawaiin music and hula dancers. [Yes, our luggage did actually get to the stateroom mere moments before we sailed.] By the time we went to bed, we had been awake for over 24 hours (minus the few ZZZs we got on the plane). When we awoke the next morning, we were in Nawiliwili on the island of Kaua'i...

On Kaua'i, we took an excursion to the Waimea Canyon, which is the largest canyon in the Pacific. The canyon measures 10-12 miles long, 1-2 miles wide, and is more than 3,500-feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's summit. The lines in the canyon walls depict different volcanic eruptions and lava flows that have occurred over the centuries. Mark Twain called it "the Grand Canyon of the Pacific". If you look closely at the enlarged version of the first pic, you'll see a waterfall off in the distance...

After another day on Kaua'i and more excursions, we sailed for Hilo on the big island of Hawai'i, but not before taking a circuitous route around the north side of Kaua'i passing the Na Pali coast. The Na Pali coast is not accessible by car or foot. It can only be approached by plane, helicopter, or ship. In our case, we saw it by ship...

Off On Vacation

Everyone needs a break now and then, so Mrs. Hawkeye and I will be off on vacation for awhile celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We will be in Hawaii, away from the telephones, the bosses, the paperwork, the politics, the chores of everyday life... and yes, even the computers, the blogs, and the trolls. If we don't come back, it will probably be because we liked it so much!

If you saw Camojack's latest blog posting HERE, then you will understand what I mean when I say that I hope not to be one of those "tourons" he refers to. (It sounds like a cross between a tourist and a moron.) I will be a tourist however... and not a "reluctant" tourist at that. It's been over a year since our last "real" vacation, and we lost two days of that one due to a sudden snowstorm. Your prayers for a safe trip are most greatly appreciated. God-willing, I will be back online near the end of May. Best regards to all my friends out there...

Soros Behind Wolfowitz Smear

Dr. Evil -- George Soros

Hat-tip to Heirborn Ranger

From Wall Street Journal; May 9, 2007; Page A16:

Mark Malloch Brown spoke Monday to a crowded auditorium at the World Bank's headquarters, warning that the bank's mission was "hugely at risk" as long as Paul Wolfowitz remained its president. Only hours earlier, news leaked that a special committee investigating Mr. Wolfowitz had accused him of violating conflict-of-interest rules. A coincidence? We doubt it.

Mr. Malloch Brown, remember, was until last year Kofi Annan's deputy at the United Nations. In that position, he distinguished himself by spinning away the $100 billion Oil for Food scandal as little more than a blip in the U.N.'s good work, and one that had little to do with Mr. Annan himself. Last week, Mr. Malloch Brown was named vice president of the Quantum Fund, the hedge fund run by his billionaire friend George Soros. A former World Bank official himself and ally of soon-to-be British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Mr. Malloch Brown would almost surely be a leading candidate to replace Mr. Wolfowitz should he step down. Not surprisingly, Gordon Brown cold-shouldered Mr. Wolfowitz at a recent meeting in Brussels.

The bank presidency would be a neat coup for Sir Mark, and not just because the post has heretofore gone to an American. He also stands for everything Mr. Wolfowitz opposes, beginning with the issue of corruption. Consider Mr. Malloch Brown's defense of the U.N.'s procurement practices.

"Not a penny was lost from the organization," he insisted last year, following an audit of the U.N.'s peacekeeping procurement by its Office of Internal Oversight Services. In fact, the office found that $7 million had been lost from overpayment; $50 million worth of contracts showed indications of bid rigging; $61 million had bypassed U.N. rules; $82 million had been lost to mismanagement; and $110 million had "insufficient" justification. That's $310 million out of a budget of $1.6 billion, and who knows what the auditors missed.

[...]

Views like these help explain why Mr. Malloch Brown is in such favor with Mr. Soros, who has publicly suggested the U.S. will need a "de-Nazification" program to erase the taint of the Bush Administration. So close are the two that Mr. Malloch Brown lives in a suburban New York home owned by Mr. Soros. Mr. Malloch Brown says he pays market rent, though reporting by the New York Sun's Benny Avni disputes that. In any case, it's safe to assume that Mr. Soros's widely published views are close to Mr. Malloch Brown's somewhat more guarded ones.
