God bless George Bush.
Maybe he wasn't a perfect President(Only One is Perfect),but he was what we all needed that day.

This brought it all back, from tearing out the IV lines in the hospital room to the following three years where I refused retirement, nodded grudgingly when the wife screamed "You love this s--t!" when I told her I was going to work a while longer, and then tried to assuage my anger with meaningful response.

GWB, after a speech to the SpecOps troops at CentCom in Tampa in 2004, shook my hand and had a brief conversation with me when I finally retired and my fellow hooligans flew me down there for the occasion. The official White House photographer took a picture of us together, and besides Miz Possum, it is the most cherished item I can think of. It validates 30 years' work, most of which was deception, betrayal, and evil. (And no, you'll never see it online!)

Blood runs out of my eye sockets when people badmouth GWB. Part of the reason I love him was because he was such a hapless, wandering screw-up when he was young. Been there, done that, and I can only dream of having the courage and leadership he showed in this time of crisis.

Every year at this time, I play the CDs of The Concert for New York, recorded 20 Oct 2001. The first track on the second disc is Mike Moran of the New York Fire Department, and he says it all:

"Osama bin Laden, you can kiss my royal Irish ass!"

Possum,
Yeah, I know what you mean. You can forgive a guy like W if he gets his "tangue toungled-up" once in awhile, because at least he was honest. He did what he said was going to do. And vice versa. But it's pretty hard to forgive a guy like Obama: a deceptive, lying b-----d (in my opinion).

Best regards...

P.S.-- Thank you for your service.
