Obama: I Have A Dream

President Barack Obama delivered another speech before a joint session of Congress today. It was his second such speech in as many weeks, and clearly patterned after Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech. So much so in fact, that some have used the word 'plagiarism'. But an unnamed learned scholar from the New York Times Institute for Revisionist History -- a respected Ivy League think-tank -- suggests that it is not so much plagiarism as it is another wonderful example of Barack Obama's ability to identify himself with famous historical leaders. For example, Mr. Obama has already cast himself as John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Messiah.

The following is the text of the President's speech...

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest promotion of socialism in the history of our nation.

Eight score and 1 year ago, a great German-American, in whose symbolic shadow I stand today, wrote the Communist Manifesto. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of future pseudo-intellectuals and elitists who had been seared in the imaginary flames of withering injustice in their own minds. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity to the brutish principles of capitalism: supply and demand, risk and reward, and worst of all, self-reliance.

But one hundred and sixty one years later, the socialist still does not control. One hundred and sixty one years later, the life of the socialist is still sadly crippled by the manacles of capitalism and the chains of individualism. One hundred and sixty one years later, the socialist lives on a lonely island of utopian fantasies in the midst of a vast ocean of practical realism. One hundred and sixty one years later, the socialist is still languishing in the corners of talk-radio and finds himself an exile amidst the Limbaughs and the Hannitys. And so we've come here today to dramatize this shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capitol to cash a check... a REALLY BIG CHECK. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American taxpayer was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, socialists as well as conservatives, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Choice, Universal Health Care and Economic Equality." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens on the Left are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the proletariat a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

But we refuse to believe that the Bank of America (or Citi-Bank, or Wells Fargo, or AIG) is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of China's 30-year Treasury bond holders. And so, we've come to cash this check, a REALLY BIG CHECK, that will give us upon demand the riches of socialism and the security of the nanny-state.

We have also come to this chamber to remind America of the fierce urgency of NOW. This is no time to engage in the luxury of critical thinking and analysis, or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the riches of socialism. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of capitalism to the sunlit path of egalitarianism, "Doublethink" and "Newspeak". Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of deepening recession to the solid rock of a state-owned, government-managed, highly-regulated, planned economy. Now is the time to make the dream of socialism a reality for all of Big Brother's children.

I could go on like this forever, but let me cut to the chase. And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the Marxist dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created financially equal."

I have a dream that one day on the "red" hills of Georgia, the sons of former Marxists and the sons of former private property owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that my little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their money but by the content of their argument against America's wealthy.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, here in D.C., with its federal employees and anti-gun laws, a new state will emerge -- a Democrat state of course -- where little boys and girls will be able to join hands with the children of other states as comrades in the Socialist States of America.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain (except Capitol Hill) shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places (except Capitol Hill) will be made straight; "and the glory of 'the One' shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."

And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, land of equality, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers cried, land of the Marxist's pride,

From every mountainside, your tax dollars bring!


And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so, let tax dollars flow from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let tax dollars flow from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let tax dollars flow from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let tax dollars flow from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let tax dollars flow from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let tax dollars flow from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let tax dollars flow from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let tax dollars flow from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let tax dollars flow.

And when this happens, when we allow tax dollars to flow into Washington, when we let tax dollars flow from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all Big Brother's children -- liberals and conservatives, Jews and Gentiles, Christians and Muslims -- will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank 'the One', we are free from our money at last!

You should start writing his speeches ,Hawkeye...No on second thought ,yours would make more sense than the ones he's giving now.
But do you really think "Big Brother" is big enough for
0bama ? How about Big Daddy?

Wow, that is powerful--you almost made a socialist out of me, but no quite.

Tis' sad indeed the one who speaks so eloquently could have made that speech and CNN would have been so full of tingly legs that the cameras could no longer operate as the commenspuds, er taters, would all be on the floor trying to rub to the tingles out.

I have been a bit slack at writing. Rough winter here at the bunker but I have been working on photos to while away the time.

I have been thinking up some new stories but I guess they haven't been translated to hard copy yet
