Dems: We Don't Need No Stinkin' Hispanics

Democrats yesterday celebrated the resignation of Alberto Gonzales, the first Hispanic-American to be appointed Attorney General of the United States. Senator Barack Obama who is seeking the Democratic presidential nod, said: "I am pleased that he has finally resigned today." Democratic presidential contender John Edwards said: "Better late than never." U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd, (D-CT), said the resignation was long overdue. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) said: "It's been a long and difficult struggle, but at last the attorney general has done the right thing and stepped down." Dan Gernstein, a Democratic strategist who wrote an opinion column for The Politico newspaper recently suggesting that Democrats impeach Gonzales said: "It is a pretty safe bet that the boil has been lanced."

While the Dems have prided themselves on being the party that champions minorities, they have made it clear that they don't want to include Hispanics among those ranks. Miguel Estrada an Hispanic-American lawyer who was nominated in 2001 by President Bush to the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, was similarly attacked by Democrats in the Senate who used a filibuster to block his nomination. In fact, internal memos to Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin mention liberal interest groups' desire to keep Estrada off the court because his Latino heritage made him "especially dangerous" as a potential future Supreme Court nominee.

Some observers have suggested that Democratic opposition to Hispanics grows out their underlying hatred of President George W. Bush, who made a record number of Hispanic appointments in his first administration that included now U.S. Senator Mel Martinez as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Rosario Marin as Treasurer of the United States and Dr. Richard Carmona as U.S. Surgeon General. "You can't hang around Bush and expect to come away without mud on your clothes", said an unnamed Washington insider.

Others however, disagree. "We Democrats love Hispanics," said an unnamed Hillary Clinton staff member who wished to remain anonymous, "that is... so long as they are illegal. When Hillary gets elected, don't be surprised if she appoints an illegal Hispanic to the position of Attorney General!"

What do you mean when. Oh dear God, please never use that line again. Ahhh, wash my eyes out with soap.

Dear Ms RightWing-
Apparently you don't read the New York Slimes. Ms Clinton is now the President, her husband is the Ambassador to the UN, and the Democrats have all the Congressional seats.

Don't be fooled that the election is next year. that's what they want you to think.

The elitist Dims really believe they are better than anyone else. And that includes all other Democrats. Kerry thinks he's better than Hillary,Hill thinks she's better than Bill, who thinks he's far superior to those who put him in office. They all live in their own little rich world, where each one of them thinks they are the only person worth knowing or having power.

Truly nuts!

Did it ever occur to you that the Dems wanted to say hasta la vista to Gonzales because he is a complete idiot? Keeping an utter incompetent in a job just because of his ethic identity, now that would be racist, no?

And remember, it wasn't just the dems; a fair swag of Republicans were looking to send him south of the border too. Anyway, I thought you guys were all for sending illegal immigrants back to Mexville, 'cause he sure broke the law! (Can anyone say 'Obstruction of justice'?)

And I just love it when you start droning on about 'elite' democrats – what do you call a guy from a privileged, rich east coast estabishment dynasty who was educated at Yale and Harvard? George Bush! Either one'll do! They don't come more elite than them!

Remember kids – W ain't a real Texan! He's a pretend Texan! Ever get the feeling you've been had?

Cheers

Prettyold,
Not only that, but they seem to think that they can tell everybody else what must be done, but not have to comply themselves. "Do as I say, but not as I do". Sheesh!

Best regards...

Elroy,
It's not as funny when I have to tell you that it's satire, and then explain it to you.

But on the flip side, I will say that I don't believe Gonzales did anything wrong. I don't buy the "obstruction of justice" rap.

I will admit that he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but that is not a crime... otherwise you too might be in jail for some of your lame-brained comments.

BTW, did I use the word 'elite' somewhere in this article? I must have missed it. Did I suggest in this article somewhere that Dems are elitists? Must have missed that too.

You can interpret what you want to from the article, but it shouldn't be that Dems are 'elitist'. I would suggest you take away the following: 1) Dems talk a good game about championing minorities, but then think nothing of "dragging through the mud" the name and reputation of any minority person if they are successful, educated, conservative and Republican. 2) The Dems are so partisan, that they are willing to sabotage a minority person's good name or career, if failure to do so might somehow benefit Republicans or threaten their own liberal cause. 3) The Dems care more about illegal aliens than they do about American citizens. 4) The Dems are so dumb, that they don't realize the negative ramifications of attacking a successful American-Hispanic whose historic appointment was applauded in the Latino community.

Cheers

That was satire? Wow! It’s hard to tell with you guys; your rant sounded just like the Michelle Malkin ‘It’s a witch-hunt!’ whine I was unfortunate enough to witness the other day. Still, good to see you’re all on message! God bless them talking points, huh?

‘But on the flip side, I will say that I don't believe Gonzales did anything wrong.’

You don’t? Gonzales acted as counsel to Bush when his job was counsel to the American people. Isn’t even that enough?

'I don't buy the "obstruction of justice" rap.'

Maybe you don’t understand it.
See: http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/usa-timeline.php

This will only bring you up to May 2007, but is highly informative. Otherwise, our good friends at Wiki have
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dismissal_of_U.S._attorneys_controversy or, for good laugh, try http://www.conservapedia.com/Alberto_R._Gonzales

Here’s my favorite gag from that page:

‘His Secret Service nickname is "Elephant", a reference to his uncanny ability to memorize obscure parts of United States law.’

Sometimes we don’t need satire.

‘I will admit that he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer…’

But his Secret Service nickname is "Elephant"! A reference to his uncanny ability to memorize obscure parts of United States law!

but that is not a crime... otherwise you too might be in jail for some of your lame-brained comments.

In the cell next to you. But we are not the Attorney General of the US.

‘BTW, did I use the word 'elite' somewhere in this article? I must have missed it. Did I suggest in this article somewhere that Dems are elitists? Must have missed that too.
You can interpret what you want to from the article, but it shouldn't be that Dems are 'elitist'.'

I was responding to Prettyold and, as it turns out, you too. Try to keep up.

‘I would suggest you take away the following: 1) Dems talk a good game about championing minorities,’

Yes, they do. Thanks for noticing.

‘but then think nothing of "dragging through the mud" the name and reputation of any minority person if they are successful, educated, conservative and Republican.’

Oh dear, there you go bringing ‘race’ into it again. I thought you guys were ‘colorblind? Look, this not about Alberto being Hispanic or Martian. This is about bringing to account a man who has broken the law. The Dems, and quite a few Republicans, are not going after him because he is Mexican, they are going after him because he was unworthy of the office he held. What don’t you understand about this?

The truly racist stance is yours. ‘He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he’s Hispanic so it’s OK’. You know as well as I do that you don’t hire someone because they are Hispanic – you hire them if they can do the job, and if someone known as Elephant due to their amazing memory says ‘I can’t recall’ 67 times during his testimony to Congress and is contradicted by everyone else that was there, well, I’m thinking they can’t do their job.

I’m amazed that you are sticking up for him; it does the credibility of you and your cause no good at all.

‘2) The Dems are so partisan, that they are willing to sabotage a minority person's good name or career, if failure to do so might somehow benefit Republicans or threaten their own liberal cause.’

Yes, the Dems are partisan, of course they are. The Bush WH has absolutely ignored them and polarized the country for the last 7 years and more. The whole fuss over the attorney scandal is because the WH has acted in such a partisan manner. But again, this not about race, this about competence. Stop hiding behind the race card and face reality.

‘3) The Dems care more about illegal aliens than they do about American citizens.’

No, they care about everyone equally. They care about people that pay their taxes and contribute to society.

‘4) The Dems are so dumb,’

Now, now – that’s just rude.

‘that they don't realize the negative ramifications of attacking a successful American-Hispanic whose historic appointment was applauded in the Latino community.’

Again. One more time. It is not about race. It is about competence. You are being a hypocrite. You want it both ways. Stop spinning the unspinnable and admit that he was either lying or stupid, and as such has no place being AG.

Cheers

Elroy,
The U.S. Attorneys serve "at the pleasure of the President" and can be fired at any time, or for any reason... even for political reasons. I'm sure that the U.S. Attorneys understand that their jobs depend on pleasing the President. They are lawyers for goodness sake. They should know that there is no law which protects from being fired.

Bill Clinton fired (93) U.S. Attorneys in one swoop. And the purpose there was blatantly political! There were on-going investigations of Democrats at the time. Only the Dims want it both ways. Only the Dims can make a scandal out of a perfectly legitimate action. The Democratic leadership is nothing but scum, plain and simple.

Cheers
