Such a difficult choice. But I had to go with the mother who tramples her son's grave for her own notoriety. I doubt we will hear much from her next year, though.

Can I come back later and vote again?Rick is so Right when he said it is such a difficult choice. This is one time I'd like to see all of them win.

prettyold,
You come back whenever you like, but I don't know if you can vote again. I think I left the vote only once feature on. Drats! Will turn it off next time.

West Coast liberal,
My mom DID raise cucumbers, and tomatoes, and potatos, and squash, and... in her spare time she raised me to be a good liberal Democrat. Then I started thinking for myself. "When I was a child I thought like a child..."

I'm sorry for your mom that you turned out a big a right wing nut job.

By the way, how does it feel to be on that side of the fence where the rest of the world, plus half of america, looks at you with scorn and disgust?

In case I forget, it's pretty ironic that you would poke fun of the notion of thinking like child.

Didn't Jesus say that to enter the Kingdom of God, one would have to think like a child?

oh wait, silly me, you're one of those typical hypocritical Christians that is the bane of society aren't you?

West Coast liberal,
I'm so appreciative that you have such concern for my mother. She's 77 and has learned to put up with a lot over the years. I'm sure that the least of her concerns is my political beliefs.

As far as which side of the fence... I'm happy to know that I'm on the "right" side of the fence. And I don't think it's quite "half of America" that looks at me with scorn & disgust... otherwise, we probably would have had another recount debacle. And even if it was half... well, you can't please all of the people all of the time, can you?

West Coast liberal,

No, actually that's not correct. What Jesus said was...

Mark 10:15 "Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it."

Big difference there. Some try to receive the Kingdom of God thinking they have earned it. They demand admittance of God based on their convictions of self-righteousness. Children don't question why they receive a gift... they are happy to have it. If you say that Santa brought it, or Aunt Gertrude, or Baby Jesus... so be it. They are just happy to have the gift.

Well now, this was a difficult choice!
I wanted to pick Farrakhan because he's the looniest of the lot, but I'm not so sure he could rightly be called a "liberal". Cindy IS probably the best choice but I chose ol' faithful, John Kerry. Looney as ever and still a liberal, ya gotta love him!

West Coast liberal,

Methinks thou dost protest too much...

clearly, jesus is referring to THINKING and BEHAVING like little children. it's the purity and innocence of little children that he is referring to.

of course, these are the same traits that you choose to scorn just to score a ew cheap points against liberals.

West Coast liberal,
So what do you propose then? Are you calling for a moritorium on "cheap shots"?

You're ON! When I hear nothing coming out of the mouths of the libs on Capitol Hill, then I too will stop. When the libs on Capitol Hill "find Jesus" and start acting like "babes in Christ"... then I will too. (But don't hold your breath.)

Until then, I have the same First Amendment rights to speak my mind as any liberal... unless that is, you advocate that today's Christians should go to the lions the same way Nero treated the Christians? So much for Freedom of Speech, eh?

At 12/28/2005 4:39 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hawkeye,
You and I know that this is not about cheap shots. You are nothing but a typical hypocritical Christian in the mould of Robertson, Dobson and Falwell.

You want the liberals on Capitol Hill to stop first before you will??? hmm.. what's the phrase in the bible about loving and praying for your enemy and also the one about turning the other cheek?

And also, which phrase in the bible states that we should stop slandering the opposition only when the opposition are born again?

And of course, in typical hypocritical Christian fashion, you are more than willing to let your religious beliefs play 2nd fiddle to your desire to embrace your First Amendment rights.

Cut the horseshit. You and I both know that you are merely using the bible as the a mask to hide your asinine political ideology.

At 12/28/2005 5:31 PM , Blogger Hawkeye® said...

West Coast liberal,
OK... you win. I will be a "good" Christian. I will turn the other cheek so you and your friends can slap me around.

I will "pray" for you and your friends... while you desecrate the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

I will "cut the horseshit" while you and your friends turn democracy on its head... and I will be "quiet".

That's what you want, isn't it? You want us Christians to be good little boys and girls while YOU formulate policy.

You want us to just pray and "shut-up", while you tell us all what to do. You don't want to hear from a Reverend unless his name is Jackson or Sharpton.

Well, sorry... but that's not what my God says to do. My God says, "Let your light shine before men!" My God says, "The powers of death shall not prevail!" My God says, "What you hear whispered, proclaim upon the housetops!"

So that's what I do. I proclaim. I shine light. And even the powers of death will not stand in my way. Not even a West Coast liberal.

At 12/28/2005 5:45 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

hahaha.. Hawkeye, you crack me up.

I can deal with the fact that you refuse to turn the other cheek even though that is what Jesus tells us to do.

I can also deal with the fact that you refuse to pray for your enemies even though that is what Jesus tells us to do.

But heck, you even doubt the power of prayer! That is a classic one!

Forget Sharpton and Jackson. You conservatives spend more time talking about them than worrying if you living the life that God wants you to live.

Jesus warned us about false prophets who pretend to be men of God but in truth are more concerned about their own well-being.You simply WANT to embrace biblical scriptures ONLY WHEN they fit your needs. When they don't, you drop them like a sack of potatos.

You proclaim my ass. You and your fellow Christian extremists are trying to shove your beliefs down the throats of non-Christians.

If you think about it, the only other people on earth who are trying to do the same thing are the crazy Islamists who abhore anyone/anything who does not adhere to their extreme beliefs.

How are you any different from them? Oh I get it, cos your false beliefs trump their false beliefs?

Time to repent Hawkeye, time to repent.

Cindy Sheehan hands down but then it looks like west coast liberal wants the vote. He is acting very non christian and refers to christians as us and then yells at you for standing up for your beliefs. Their are 12 Apostles with very different personalities which shows us that it takes all kinds. Certainly West Coast liberal would like you to be a thief, tax collector or a whore. But instead you chose to be like an Apostles; none of which rolled over and played dead while others blasphemed.

Himself, as He did with Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9:1ff). Pray for the "downfall and the rise" of Jesus' opponents (Lk 2:34).

Now if the vote had been for LLL of the Decade, or for their Career, my choice would have been different. Big Fat Teddy K deserves a category all his own, IMNSHO. Must be something in the water in MA for the voters there to keep this idiot in office. :o(

West Coast liberal,

I have no doubt you're gonna do that soon = unsubstantiated accusation, paranoia(?)

you're nothing but a pseudo-Christian in the mould of the infamous pharisees = Ad-hominem attack, name calling.

filthy right wing ideology = unsubstantiated accusation (what makes it "filthy"?)

does it hurt to get biblical lessons from a West Coast liberal? = taunting.

Heck, I had to quote you that verse = superiority complex.

that you were apparently unaware of = false assumption.

you are a bloody mess = Ad-hominem attack.
_____________________________

Fist of all, I must assume that you are not a Christian yourself. While you apparently can quote some Scriptures, you violate the very Scripture you quote. While telling others they must be "child-like", you yourself act "childish" and become immediately guilty of the same "crime" of which you have accused me. Therefore, I must conclude that while it is not OK for me to act a certain way (because of my beliefs), it is OK for you to act that way because you don't share those beliefs.

Second, I see no real difference between my earlier comments on "receiving the kingdom" and what Jesus says in Matthew 18:3, but I think you miss the point of 18:3 entirely. Jesus wants us to be "child-like" in our heart, in our spirit, in our most inward being where His Spirit comes to meet us. He is our Father and He wants to spend time with His happy, grateful children. Jesus is not telling us how to think or act on the "outside". Jesus is almost always speaking in spiritual terms... not physical terms.

Third, I must assume that you are from the West Coast of England, or Ireland perhaps?

Hawkeye:
I don't deny that I have made ad-hominem attacks on you. However, unlike you, I don't wear my religion on a sleeve and then turn around and make ad-hominem attacks at others, in your case, liberals.

The difference between you and I is that you're a CLASS A hypocrite who masks his ad-hominem attacks against liberals behind the bible.

I don't mask anything. If I think you're a worthless piece of crap, it's because I think you are one. Period. You, on the other hand, make the same comments about liberals and justify it using the bible.

Another difference between you and I is that you (and your fellow Christian nut jobs as well) have no qualms about using the bible to make up shit. E.g. Where in the bible does it say that WalMart greeters should use the word "Christmas" in their greetings? Another trait of the false prophets that the bible talks about.

And by the way, I have no qualms about saying Merry Christmas to anyone, even if I'm too sure if the person is a Christian.

At 12/29/2005 4:18 PM , Blogger Hawkeye® said...

WCL,
I don't think so. I don't make Ad-hominem attacks on liberals while hiding "behind the bible". If I make fun of liberals, it's certainly not using biblical language or stating that I am "holier than them".

My barbs at libs are based solely on my political beliefs, which (you might find hard to believe) are quite separate from my religious beliefs. I would not dare to lower Christ into the political arena.

How is that possible you ask? Well, listen up good. I just happen to be a Christian, who is also a Conservative, who is also a Republican. So what? I could also be Christian, and a Democrat, and a Liberal. Right? Or perhaps I could be a Jew, and a Conservative, and a Republican. Or a Muslim, and Democrat, and Liberal. So what? You just don't like the (3) I happen to be... well sorry. Get over it!

And give up that crap about Wal-Mart! Sure, they are P.C. so as not to offend. We can understand that. But when 86% of a country says that they are Christian, but some lib judges rule that they are not allowed to say "Merry Christmas", well I'm afraid those judges have gone too far... and Christians are just fed up with it.

Say no more, say no more!

As far as my vote: Has to go to The New york Slimes! Not only did they fail to report on the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals upholding the right to have the 10 Commandments posted on public property, and slamming the ACLU at the same time, they have now shown how they can undermine the entire county by their treasonous acts of posting storys about the Presidents lawful use of survellence techniques.

Again, I ask you: if you feel so strongly about Christmas being omitted from Walmart greetings, WHY did you not assail George and Laura Bush for sending out holiday cards instead of Christmas cards?

I smell hypocrisy.

WCL,
Where do you get this crazy notion that I "feel so strongly about Christmas being omitted from Walmart greetings"? Can you quote where I said that? You keep referring to this Wal-Mart thing, as if I'm the one who is pushing it! You can go through all my archives, and I don't think you will find a single reference to Wal-Mart... and if you do find one, it won't be in reference to "Christ"mas. You must be one of those typical liberals that hates when people stereo-type you, but then feel no qualms about doing it yourself.

That being said, if 86% of the people in this country acknowledge that they are indeed "Christians", why would store-owners want offend 86% of their customers? That sounds like just plain bad economics to me.

Hawkeye:

"we are also reminded of the efforts by the godless atheists who seek to secularize our nation and eliminate all traces of Christianity."

pray tell, if the above comment is not an example of your feelings towards some (be it Walmart, Target, ACLU, Bloomingdale's, etc..) for their falsely-perceived anti-Christmas agenda, WHAT IS???

Let me get this on the record that I have NO QUALMS about saying Merry Christmas to anyone, even if I'm not too sure if the person is a Christian.

That being said, the "war on Xmas" is nothing but a blatant effort by the likes of Robertson and Falwell to draw some media attention to themselves.

You might want to note that it wasn't exactly the ACLU who started this. It did NOT send letters to the department stores and the White House stating "if you use the word Xmas anywhere this season, we will sue you."

It was the department stores who chose to do it, causing the Christian fanatics to scream bloody murder, THEN the ACLU came in and said "hey, there is nothing wrong with Target, Walmart or anyone else doing this and if you insist on picking a fight, we're in."

Hey, I've noticed you've yet to answer my question on why you refuse to criticize George and Laura Bush for deliberately omitting the word "christmas"in their cards. Or did you not know about it cos Fox News refused to cover it because it was so FAIR AND BALANCED?

WCL,
Wal-Mart saying 'Merry Christmas' (or not) is like the lowest priority on my agenda.

When I say "we are also reminded of the efforts by the godless atheists who seek to secularize our nation and eliminate all traces of Christianity", I'm talking principally about the ACLU when they...

Oppose:
+The public singing of "Silent Night" and other Christmas carols.
+Displays of nativity scenes, crosses, and other Christian symbols on public property.
+The posting of the Ten Commandments in classrooms or courtrooms.
+The words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance and "In God We Trust" on U.S. coins.
+Chaplains in prisons and the military.
+Optional prayer in classrooms, locker rooms, sports arenas, legislative assemblies, and at graduation exercises.
+Census questions regarding an individual's religious affiliation.
+Accreditation for science departments at Bible-believing Christian universities.
+Voucher programs and tuition tax credits.
+Public funding for Christian schools.
+"Blue law" statutes.
+Voluntary Bible reading in public schools ... even during free time or after classes.
+Tax-exempt status for churches
+The teaching of monogamous heterosexual marriage as a life-style.
+Criminal sentencing.
+Public demonstrations by Pro-Life groups.

But Support:
+Tax-exempt status for Satanist groups (and for themselves).
+Legalized child pornography.
+Legalized drugs.
+Abortion on Demand.
+Automatic probation.
+Public demonstrations by Nazis and Communists.
+Legalized Polygamy.
+Mandatory sex education.

Where have you been? And I didn't get a Christmas card from George and Laura Bush, so I can't comment. Sheesh!

Hey west coast parrot, why don't you go soak your head for a few hours?

Ever heard this? When I was a child, I thought as a child, but when I became an adult, I put away childish things!

Jesus taught in parables. Come to HIM as a child, means in INNOCENCE, not as a spoiled brat child, that YOU apparently are. If you had an inkling of intelligence, you wouldn't have to have everything explained to you. Not that you will ACTUALLY learn anything from it.

As for "--shoving our religion down your throats" If your kind feels that way, stop trying to shove your "atheism" down ours. Jerks like you are mad because people who love CHRIST are FINALLY standing up. We are the MAJORITY! Deal with it you God less scum! This "shoving down the throat" claim sounds like a kid I heard say, "You people are shoving your music down our throats!" This was a few years back, and then he drove off in his car that was blaring music with vulgar lyrics so loud EVERYONE could hear his "throat shoving" for miles away!

Maybe you should read the Bible verse that starts, "Remove the plank from your own eye------" You do know the rest,----don't you Mr. Bible Scholar?

Grow up nutcase! How old, (or should I say YOUNG) are you anyway, and what do you want to be when you finally grow up?

BTW, I have no problem with Ad-hominem attacks, when a hypocrite like you starts them.

Enjoy your miserable life, talking points parrot.

Let me just add that I'm not the biggest fan of the ACLU myself.

I do think that there are times that they may tend to go overboard but ACLU is way less secular than Focus on the Family is extreme.

You may disagree with its agenda, but you have to agree that it is consistent. If it is willing to go up against churches, you bet it will be there as well if a Muslim cleric comes in and starts trying to convert Christian kids to Islam.

hence, the way I look at it is that I may not agree with some of the things it is doing, but heck, at least they do it for all. THEY EVEN DEFENDED RUSH LIMBAUGH when the cops busted into his house without a warrant.

If Bush appoints a Christian judge, the ACLU will be there to rally against him/her from imposing his/her religious views on judicial decisions. They'd do the same thing if Bush were to appoint a Buddhist judge.

Do you think extreme Christian groups like focus on the family will still support a candidate who imposes his religious views on judicial decisions if Bush were to appoint a Buddhist judge?

NO WAY IN HELL.

You STILL REFUSE TO DISCUSS THE BUSH HOLIDAY CARD ISSUE!!! and FYI, I know Fox News probably did not cover this, Bush sent out holiday cards, NOT Xmas cards.

Dude, you are such a hypocrite.

It would probably surprise liberal Larry there on the West Coast (read Left coast) to find out that not every conservative agrees with everything Fox News says, nor Bill O'Reilly, nor Jerry Falwell nor Rush Limbau. This ridiculous stereotyping is another hallmark of liberal, autocratic thinking.

Maybe Bush was being pc when he sent out those cards (and, hey, I didn't get one this year!), but THAT wouldn't comfort a liberal like LCL, now would it? It just becomes another talking point in his bash Bush hit parade.

FWIW What the WCL fails to realize is that he is a guest at Hawkeye's site. The host does not have to tolerate an obnoxious visitor.

Secondly, last I heard, Falwell, Robertson, Focus on Family, etc. are not elected officials, nor are they designated spokesmen for the Administration. They do have a Constitutional right to free speech as individuals and as lobbyists.

Thirdly, Hawkeye "renders unto Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's" in his blog commentary. It's clear to anyone with critical thinking skills that he has his priorities straight.

Fourthly, I did receive a Christmas card from the White House. Above the message: "With best wishes for a holiday season of hope and happiness 2005" is Psalm 28:7 (RSV) "The Lord is my strength and my shield; In Him my heart trusts; So I am helped, and my heart exults, And with my song I give thanks to Him".
Anyone who interprets this message as an imposition of theocracy has paranoid delusions and should immediately seek help.

The last I saw, Kerry (part of the "Help is on the way" team) was hanging out at Full Gospel Churches for his photo ops.

Happy New Year, y'all.

Hawkeye, my friend: I will have to say, you have more patience than I do. I would have deleted the fool A LOT earlier.

BTW, GOD called people like left coast demon a fool in HIS Word.

Jesus didn't apologize, OR mince HIS words, and from now on, neither will I!

That is UNLESS, I do something wrong, NOT something that supposedly offends the libs, or left. The real difference between us and them is, we still have values and morality, (not that we are without sin), but if we are living with Christ inside of us, and we do something wrong, we will feel conviction and feel the NEED to apoligize, not some lame attempt like Clinton, who read his apology from a script.

Many/most libs have long since burnt their conscience out, and really have no sense of shame about anything anymore!

Keep being you Hawkeye, I can certainly learn from you to have a little more patience.

Happy BLESSED New Year to you and ALL my other friends here!!!!

BTW, I too, had a hard time choosing, but decided on Dean as the one who has been the main idiot, not just over the last year, but going back to his imitation of Carol Burnett, doing Tarzan.

P.S. My word verification is: "lvpms" Is this read "love pms"

Surely not. I don't know any women OR men who would love that, unless loving knowing that people like Pelosi has to go through it.

RAM,
Maybe it stands for "love poems". That would be nice. Anyway, thanks for the kind words. As for patience, I am nowhere near as patient with others as God has been with me.

Best regards,
Hawkeye®

Hawkeye: Love poems---I like it! I didn't "see" that, but it is MUCH better than my suggestion!

I also could never be as patient as GOD has been with me. We, (as humans "in the flesh"), can only keep trying, with Jesus' help!

Again, a Happy New Year to you and yours! (From one "right-wing nutjob to another!) ;-)
